Tender 3 (T-3) is a 2008 Freightliner and holds’ up to 1800 gallons of water and can pump up to 500 gallons of water per minute while pushing 150 PSI at the nozzle. T- 3 is also capable of what is called pump and drive. This means the special monitor on the front of the engine can squirt water while driving. This also is very handy when fighting grass or low intensity wildland fires. The Tender was initially purchased to provide water in the areas without proper fire hydrant protection. Today the tender still provides its weight in gold by providing back-up water coverage. A portable pond, which is like a child's swimming pool, that holds approximately 2000 gallons of water, enables the driver to dump the water into the pond, then go refill while firefighters are using the water in the pond. T-3 will also assist on many of the local forest fires because it is able to bring great amounts of water in to the forest where no hydrants or water is available.
